There are few things in your life that you can do to gain more success then winning the inaugural Heisman trophy. Mariota not only took the Heisman in sweeping fashion but he also took the nations top trophies with him. This year for Mariota was not just a stand out year. He showed the doubters from prior year that he deserves to be among the best in the nation at what he doses. With the second highest margin of victory only behind Troy Smith of Ohio state in 2006. Winning by a margin of 91.6 percent. Mariota won this years campaign by a margin of 90.9. Mariota finished with 2,534 points, more than double that of Melvin Gordon of Wisconsin, who finished with 1,250. While accepting his award Maritoa did not speak of himself but of those who helped him become they player and person he is today. Such a class act, he thanked both Amari and Melvin and wished them both continued success in there futures. Not only did he thank his teammates and coaches but said, “It’s your trophy.” This just goes to show what kind of person Maritoa is and the humility in which he has for the success he has had in College while playing for the ducks.
