Royce chipped in 112 yards on the ground with two touchdowns as Oregon fought off the golden bears of California in a 59-41 win. Cal’s quarterback Jared Goff passed for 360 yards and two touchdowns. "It's almost funny, you just expect him to be perfect," Helfrich said. "Marcus is such a stud. It's great that he has another 1 1/2 years left." Oregon is continuing to show the world that this is a team that is going to make a splash in the standing this year.
Royce, Royce, Royce… it seemed as though there was nothing that could stop freshman running back Royce Freeman. He ran for 169 yards and four touchdowns in today’s game versus Washington. The continued Oregon’s dominance over Washington beating them for the 11 straight time. Mariota added 336 yards in the air and two more touchdowns for himself. "Royce is Royce," Mariota said. Bear Down!! Arizona came to play. Oregon was banged up and the fatal flaws that were exposed during there game last week at Washington State. The biggest struggle was the offensive line. Having lost multiple offensive tackles already this season it showed. Oregon could not run the ball, attempt after attempt failing. Marcus Mariota we sacked and hurried time after time and struggled to help the offense move the ball. Oregon’s high power offense was shut down. A team that averaged 46.1 points a game was not that same team. Even with Heisman hopeful Mariota taking the team on his back they came up short. This is not all defensive coordinator Don Pellum did not have the best of games. Arizona ran the ball and kept running with out much struggle. One stat that was an eye opening was the fact the Oregon missed something like 40 something tackles and had 10 penalties for 76 but the worst one came late in the game when Tony Washington sacked Solomon but then proceeded to bow and in the college game this is excessive celebration and is a 15 yard penalty and a automatic first down. This allowed Arizona to score rather then take a field goal putting them up only 17 but after this Oregon fought but to could not overcome the flaws that had been exposed and they lost 31-21. There first home lost to an unranked opponent in since 2008. Oregon has a lot of questions that need answers and they have little time to bounce back.
